Let's Go Shopping Market Bag Kit featuring our Recycled Sari Silk Yarn. Kit includes "Let's Go Shopping Market Bag" pattern by Linda Skinlo and 5 skeins of our .

You’ll need:
500 grams of our Recycled Sari Silk Yarn (5 skeins). Cotton, Hemp and Linen in a DK weight are also perfect for this.
3.5mm (US4) Double Point Needles
3.5mm (US4) Circular needles (aprox 40 cm/16" length)
6mm (US10) Circular needle (aprox 40 – 60 cm/ 16"-24" length)

Gauge is not horribly important. If you knit very loose I recommend using smaller needles for the bottom of the bag and the handles to avoid those parts stretching too much.

Here is how I knit the store sample pictured here:

  • I knit the whole bag on size 10 needles.
  • In Round 3 I decided to knit the yarn overs through the back loop because I didn't want holes in the bottom of the bag.
  • When I got to "The Bag Itself" section I did the first option to knit2together the normal way.
  • I knit until the bag was 30cm long, not 20cm like the pattern says because I wanted a longer bag.
  • Finally, for the handle, I made that longer than the pattern calls for too. I made my strap about 40cm long because I felt that 25-30cm wasn't long enough to comfortably wear over my shoulder.
Most of the changes were made based on personal preference. The size 10 needles worked well for me, but I did knit tightly where the pattern calls for a 3.5mm (US size 4) needle and regularly where it calls for a 6mm (US size 10) needle.
